Museum Information

General Admission

General admission to the Museum is free of charge. Admission to Pompeii: Tales from an Eruption is $16 for adults; $14 for visitors in groups of 10 or more, college students with ID, and seniors over age 65; $8 for children under age 12 accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $8 at the door for active members of the U.S. military with ID. Admission includes an audio tour.

Museum Hours

Museum hours during the Pompeii exhibition are Tuesday through Sunday, 10am-5pm. Hours are extended on Wednesday evenings until 9 pm. The Terrace Café is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-2pm. Dinner is offered on Wednesdays 6-:8:30pm. The Terrace Café hosts a jazz brunch on the first Sunday of the month. Reservations recommended at 205.254.2775.

Location

The Birmingham Museum of Art is located in downtown Birmingham. The building sits on the corner of Richard Arrington, Jr. Boulevard and 8th Avenue North. The Museum is easy to reach from I-65, I-20/59 and Highways 280 and 31.

Parking

Free parking is available in the Museum lot located off of Richard Arrington, Jr. Boulevard directly behind the Museum. There are designated spaces for those with disabilities. Additional parking for a small fee is available in the nearby Boutwell Parking Deck or in public parking under the interstate viaducts on 9th Avenue North.

Special Needs

The Museum is fully equipped to welcome all visitors. Special needs are met on arrival with designated parking spaces and ground level entrance from the parking lot. A limited number of wheelchairs and assisted listening devices (for programs in Steiner Auditorium) are available at the security station located at the entrance from the parking lot. Special tours for the hearing and visually impaired can be arranged in advance through the Museum’s Education office. Please call 205.254.2571.
